Enrollment Process

Everything you need to know to enroll your child at South Pointe Elementary

Enrollment Documentation Requirements

Arizona law requires specific documentation to enroll your student. Please review the requirements below and prepare all necessary documents before visiting our school.

Proof of Residency

Legal Requirement: Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) § 15-802(b)

You must provide ONE of the following documents showing your current residential address:

  • Utility bill (water, electric, gas, cable, internet)
  • Property tax bill or mortgage statement
  • Rental or lease agreement
  • Arizona driver's license or state ID
  • Bank statement
  • Paycheck stub
  • Insurance policy or bill
  • Credit card statement
  • Vehicle registration
  • Court order or legal document
  • Government-issued correspondence
  • Tribal enrollment documentation
  • Voter registration
  • Medical records or bills
  • Employment records showing address
  • Property deed
  • School records from previous district
  • Public assistance documentation
  • Homeowner's association documents
  • Notarized affidavit of shared residence

Housing Instability Notice

If you are experiencing housing instability or homelessness and cannot provide the above documentation, please contact our front office immediately. Under the McKinney-Vento Act, we will work with you to ensure your student can enroll without delay. All information is kept confidential.

Proof of Student's Age and Identity

Legal Requirement: A.R.S. § 15-828

You must provide ONE of the following documents:

  • Birth certificate (certified copy or original)
  • Baptismal certificate with date of birth
  • Passport or visa
  • Hospital birth record
  • Adoption records
  • Court order establishing age
  • Previous school records showing birthdate

Immunization Records

Legal Requirement: A.R.S. § 15-872

Arizona law requires proof of immunization for all students. You must provide documentation showing your student has received all required immunizations for their age group, or submit an exemption form (medical or personal belief).

Note: Students may be provisionally enrolled for up to 5 days while obtaining immunization records. Contact the Arizona Department of Health Services or your healthcare provider for specific vaccine requirements.

Additional Required Information

  • Emergency Contact Information: Names, phone numbers, and addresses of at least two emergency contacts
  • Previous School Records: If transferring from another school, please request official transcripts be sent to South Pointe Elementary
  • Custody Documentation: If applicable, court orders or custody agreements
  • IEP or 504 Plan: If your student has special education needs or accommodations
  • Medical Information: Any critical medical conditions, allergies, or required medications

Important Legal Information

Non-Discrimination Policy

South Pointe Elementary does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs and activities. Any person having inquiries concerning compliance with the regulations implementing Title VI, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504, or the Age Discrimination Act should contact the school administration.

Expulsion from Previous School (A.R.S. § 15-184)

Arizona law requires schools to ask whether a student has been expelled from another school district. South Pointe Elementary may:

  • Deny admission to a student who has been expelled from another school district until the expulsion period has ended
  • Admit the student on a probationary basis
  • Request additional information about the expulsion before making an enrollment decision

If a student has been expelled, parents/guardians must disclose this information during the enrollment process.
